Anzac Day – A Dawn Service in Myanmar This year I was privileged to share the role of conducting a Dawn Service on a ship berthed on the Irrawaddy River with a Vietnam Veteran. The ship’s company sourced red roses as a tribute instead of poppies (as they are illegal in Myanmar), the chef made Anzac Biscuits and the restaurant staff poured rum spiked coffee. Most passengers attended as they were from Australia and New Zealand and some had direct links to servicemen in the Burmese campaign during World War 2. Trevor

Tom + Katherine One day I received an enquiry from Hong Kong from Tom and Katherine who were coming to Melbourne to be married at Montsalvat. We communicated via email, phone and mail and I explained… One day I received an enquiry from Hong Kong from Tom and Katherine who were coming to Melbourne to be married at Montsalvat. We communicated via email, phone and mail and I explained the steps needed to marry in Australia. A ceremony was developed and I met the couple two days before the wedding. Their guests were both sets of parents, a bridesmaid from Adelaide, best man from Hong Kong and two friends who were living in Melbourne. Thomas + Deena

Thomas + Deena I arrived at their home for the initial chat only to be met by Deena’s parents plus Thomas and Deena. Initially I felt a little uneasy as I really like to chat to couples alone. The penny dropped and I realised they were vision impaired so we chatted about how they would read documents using technology. Stuart + Brigid

Stuart + Brigid It’s not every day that you get to marry your next door neighbors and Stuart and Brigid weren’t the ones that got away. Previous neighbors married and didn’t know I was a celebrant so when Stuart and Brigid moved in my partner suggested that I give Stuart a brochure. Sam + Joanne

Sam + Joanne Being young and Vietnamese Sam and Joanne decided to opt for a traditional Vietnamese wedding complete with pyjamas and fireworks. Prior to the ceremony the family held a tea ceremony followed by the ceremony then lunch. The bride and groom changed into Western attire for their evening reception. 1 2 3 4 Trevor

Sam + Nick We looked at many venues and were disappointed by how expensive they were compared to the quality offered. Additionally, the inflexibility of some venues — such as restrictions like wine-only service, mandatory use of the venue’s caterers, and limited menu choices — was frustrating. Gary + Hansni Worrying about people not liking our decisions because they weren’t traditional. I was surprised at how many people had opinions about our wedding, and got really stressed trying to accommodate them all. Brittany + Luke What a spectacular day for Brittany and Luke’s wedding at Whitehaven. The gardens were magnificent and the weather was perfect and sunny for their outdoor ceremony.
