This year I was privileged to share the role of conducting a Dawn Service on a ship berthed on the Irrawaddy River with a Vietnam Veteran. The ship’s company sourced red roses as a tribute instead of poppies (as they are illegal in Myanmar), the chef made Anzac Biscuits and the restaurant staff poured rum spiked coffee. Most passengers attended as they were from Australia and New Zealand and some had direct links to servicemen in the Burmese campaign during World War 2.
