Booking a wedding with me is easy and stress free. Firstly, contact me and I can organize a meeting either in person, or through Facetime or Zoom. We can chat about your wedding dreams and the process.
As outlined in the Marriage Act 1961 there are several processes and forms that are involved. I’ll outline the process:
Let’s connect via in-person meeting, FaceTime, or Zoom to talk about your dreams, ideas, and how I can help shape your perfect wedding ceremony.
Firstly, you must complete the Notice of Intended Marriage or NOIM which must be with me, a minimum of one month before the wedding. It is valid for a maximum of 18 months from the date it is signed. To complete the NOIM I require the following documents:
a. A birth certificate that has been translated into English (optional)
b. A current passport (Australian or Overseas)
c. Other photo identification such as a Driver’s licence
d. Other documentation such as a Death Certificate or Divorce Certificate, if either of you have been married before. These certificates must be in English and translated by a registered translator.
At the time of booking your wedding I require a non-refundable booking fee of $100 which secures the time and date of your wedding. This fee is deducted from the total price of your ceremony.
As soon as you have determined who your witnesses will be, please notify me of their names so I can enter them on the Certificates of Marriage. Witnesses can be of any nationality providing they are 18 years or older.
As required under the Marriage Act 1961, you’ll need to:
Submit the NOIM at least 1 month before your wedding
Valid for 18 months from the date it’s signed
A birth certificate (English translation optional)
A current passport (Australian or overseas)
Photo ID (e.g., driver’s licence)
Divorce or Death Certificates (if previously married – must be in English)
Booking Fee: A non-refundable $100 deposit secures your date — applied toward the final cost.
Witnesses: Two required, aged 18+ (any nationality). Please provide names when known.
You will need to select a minimum of three songs for your wedding ceremony and provide me with a list of their titles if they are available on Spotify, which I can download from my phone and create a playlist. I am also able to play songs from a USB stick, but they must be arranged in order as Song 1, Song 2, Song 3, etc. I can also connect to a phone or iPad via a cable, but with this arrangement you will need someone to play the music for the ceremony. The songs in the ceremony are for:
a. The entrance of the bridal party
b. The bride’s entrance (if required)
c. The signing
d. And when you walk out after you are married.
Set the tone with beautiful music! You’ll need to choose at least 3 songs, typically for:
Bridal party entrance
Bride’s entrance (optional)
Signing of documents
Recessional (walking out)
🎧 Music Options:
Spotify list (I’ll download)
USB stick (songs labeled in order)
Aux connection from phone/iPad (you’ll need someone to cue the tracks)
Held on-site at your venue for a smooth, confident ceremony.
Practice the entrance and music
Know where to stand and what happens
You’ll also sign a Statutory Declaration confirming no legal reason prevents your marriage
Final payment is due after the rehearsal.
The rehearsal is usually held on site at a convenient time, mainly for the bridal party to practice their entrance with their music so they know where they will be standing during the ceremony and what will happen. Usually at the rehearsal I ask the bride and groom to sign a Statutory Declaration which states that there’s no legal impediment to them getting married. This declaration is on the back of one of the Official Certificates of Marriage that is forwarded to The Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) after you are married. At this time, I send my final invoice for payment which must be paid prior to me conducting the wedding.
Briefly a marriage ceremony contains:
During the Ceremony you will sign three Certificates of Marriage. These are:
a. The Presentation Certificate (which you keep)
b. A certificate (which I keep)
c. The official certificate which is sent to BDM with the NOIM
You will sign 3 official Certificates of Marriage:
I’ll electronically submit your documents to Births, Deaths & Marriages Victoria, and request your official certificate be mailed to you.
